Trying a month without air conditioning

Since I just took a loan out to buy a new car after I hit a deer with the old car. I was very upset about this because I thought that I had complete coverage on my car. I replaced the air conditioner before the accident and now I couldn’t use it again. After borrowing the money to buy the car, I was determined to pay off my debt as fast as possible. When trying to think of ways to do that, I thought about turning my air conditioner off for the summer. For thousands of years, people have lived without air conditioners and I figured it would be a great way to save some extra money. On Tuesday, I turned off my air conditioner and wanted to find out what would happen. As the days began to stretch on, I began to realize why we still wanted an air conditioner after thousands of years of living without one. The heat is horrible. I found myself spending a lot more time outside because my house would become warmer inside than outside. At the end of the month, I got my electric bill, and I found that I did spend some money on the air conditioner. But the savings weren’t great enough to get me enough money to pay off the bills quickly. I decided to turn my air conditioner back on and find a second job until my loan was paid off. That was a lot better than living without air conditioning in the south during the summer. Hopefully, I can tackle this debt as quickly as possible.

Space heaters help warm up the house

The furnace in our house is wonderful.

We bought a new furnace when we built our house, and I really have no complaints about it… The furnace can heat our house up fast and it also saves us money on bills.

Unfortunately, our bedroom is much colder than the rest of the house, but this isn’t the fault of the furnace. We have a drafty house and the bedroom is the worst one. There is a side door in the bedroom, and it wasn’t sealed well when it was built. You can literally guess cold air pouring into the house from this doorway. The bedroom is also full of windows, which means we are losing heat from the glass too. In order to fix this problem, we bought space heater for our bedroom. We bought this space heater that looks like a fireplace. We figured that this space heater would do the trick for supplemental heating and the space heaters would look great if we had any guests over. My bedroom is now warm with these new space heaters. Before next winter season, I hope to seal the bedroom off so that the furnace can heat it up better. By redoing the doorway and putting plastic on the windows, I should keep the room up to temperature! However, I am going to miss that little space heater. It was so nice for the bedroom and it looked so pretty. Maybe I can bring it into our living room to supply our room extra heat and a romantic atmosphere. That would allow us to lower the thermostat for the rest of the house.

Using a space heater to supplement heating system

By redoing the doorway and putting plastic on the windows, we should keep the room up to temperature… However, I am going to miss that little space heater

The furnace in our house is great. My husband and I bought a new furnace when we built our house, and I really have no complaints about it… The furnace can heat our house up quickly and it also saves us money on bills. Unfortunately, the dining room is always colder than the rest of the house. But this isn’t the fault of the furnace. My husband and I have a drafty house and the dining room is the worst room. There is a side door in the dining room and it wasn’t sealed well when it was built. You can literally feel cold air pouring into the house from this doorway. The dining room is also full of windows, which means we are losing heat from the glass too. In order to fix this problem, my husband bought section heating systems for our dining room. My husband and I bought those infrared space heating systems that look like a fireplace. We figured that these space heating systems would do the trick for supplemental heating and the heating systems would look attractive if we guests over. My dining room is now warm with these modern space heaters. Before next winter, I hope to seal the dining room off so that the furnace can heat it up the room better. By redoing the doorway and putting plastic on the windows, we should keep the room up to temperature… However, I am going to miss that little space heater. It was so nice for the dining room, and it looked so pretty. Maybe I can bring it into our living room to give our room extra heat and a romantic atmosphere. The boiler is really not the most efficient unit

My brother-in-law lives in a house that is nearly 125 years old.

It is really beautiful and the woodwork alone is worth a fortune.

I say this because the craftsmanship that went into it would be very expensive to try to replicate this day in age. There are many features about the house that make it the treasure that it is but one of them turned out to be and unusual one. Last fall he decided to look into replacing the heating system in the house and found that he could install a new boiler and save significant money. When he called the HVAC company to come and give him an estimate he was surprised to find that the old boiler was actually worth a lot of money. You may be thinking that this was due to some sort of historical value but that was not the case. The boy that was in the house had been installed nearly 40 years ago and was very large and very heavy. Just getting it out of the house was quite the undertaking and he had to pay a special company to come out and the holding tank in order to get it out of the basement. The boiler itself was useless but my brother-in-law found out that he could take the metal to the scrap yard and get quite a bit of money for it. Due to the weight of the old equipment he was actually able to pay for almost a third of the installation of the new unit. This came as quite a surprise to him and he was very happy that it worked out. Now he will save significantly on his energy bills because the new boiler is so efficient, he also has had his face in his basement that he can use for something else. Who knew that scrapping an old boiler could have so many positive effects.

I left the building very disappointed

The kids left very disappointed and I probably will not take them back to next year’s event

Growing up one of the favorite activities in town was the annual Easter egg hunt. It was normally cold outside so our parents would bundle us up and take us to the local park where all the town’s children would gather with their buckets to participate in the event. It was always a lot of fun and you really didn’t care how many eggs you got it was just nice to be outside after the long cold winter. At the end there would be special eggs opened and they would contain a number of the price that you won. They would post the pictures of the Grand Prize winners with their large chocolate bunnies in the following weeks paper and it was always a joy to see them. When I graduated college I relocated down south and now that I have children of my own I wanted to take them to an Easter egg hunt as well. Our town did host one and it was in the park as well but I didn’t have to bundle the kids up because the temperatures were already in the mid-70s. The event itself was very similar to what I remembered as a child, however, there was one major difference, there were no large chocolate rabbits only chocolate suckers that we’re very melted by the time they were handed out. Each child received the prize instead of having one major winner but unfortunately they were not able to open them because they were a puddle of goo. I think maybe the coordinator should have left them in a cooler with ice instead of leaving them in a box on a bench. The kids left very disappointed and I probably will not take them back to next year’s event. Perhaps the townspeople could also look into holding the event indoors at a local hall or a church that has air conditioning which would solve the problem too.

Please talk to me about my options

All year long my husband’s cousin plans the annual family reunions.

Many people don’t realize how much effort it takes to arrange both location, food, and entertainment for the nearly 100 people that attend.

She says that about a month after each event she starts planning for the following year including making reservations for the spot where we will hold the event. I feel bad for her because most times people will complain about the shelter at the park or the location and she takes it very personally. I can’t say as I blame her because if I put that much effort into something only to hear people ask me why I made the decisions I did, I would be upset also. We had our reunions about 2 weeks ago and unfortunately the weather was not cooperating and it poured rain all day. Most of us tried to make the best of it and many of the kids just ran around in the rain and played, however, some of the older members have decided that there needs to be a change. They want to host the reunions at a local fire hall or enclosed space that is both climate-controlled and comfortable. Many of these facilities exist in our area however they are more expensive to rent and I don’t think that the family members who want this realize that it will be so costly. A park shelter can be rented out for less than $200, whereas, renting a hall can be significantly more. It is true that these spaces have great HVAC units and we will be comfortable but there are other restrictions that play into this decision as well. I hope that my husband’s cousin can come to some sort of an understanding with the members of the family that want to change, either that or I’m sure she will hand over the records and wash her hands of it.

electric heater

My mother-in-law will not allow us to install an air conditioner.

As people age they tend to want the temperature in their house to be warmer than normal. I can understand this during the winter because it seems that the older person gets the thinner their blood becomes and they need the environment to be warmer in order to be comfortable. However the problem with my mother-in-law is the fact that she likes the temperature so high I feel it is affecting her health. Stepping into her home during the winter feels great because it is normally freezing outside but, during the extreme heat of Summer I worry that she can suffer from a heat stroke because she refuses to allow us to put in any form of air conditioning. We go to visit and she has the entire house buttoned-up was not even a window open for fresh air and the inside temperature feels like a sauna. It’s not that she can afford to have air conditioning, she just chooses not to. Last Summer she did allow my husband to put in a small window fan in her upstairs bedroom to help dry in the night but she will only use that when it is extremely hot and muggy. I’m really not sure how to convince her to make a change but perhaps next time I take her to her physician I will ask him to speak with her about the dangers of overheating. In the meantime we will continue to check on her and encourage her to either sit in the shade on the porch or at the very least use of big fan in the living room to circulate air. When temperatures reach and extreme high the very young and the very old are the ones who suffer most and we need to ensure that they are safe.

I just didn't want that. I wanted something else

Growing up one of the favorite activities in town was the annual Easter egg hunt.

The event itself was legitimately similar to what I remembered as a child, but, there was one major difference, there were no large chocolate rabbits only chocolate suckers that we’re legitimately melted by the time they were handed out! The condo is actually quite dirty

As people age they tend to want the temperature in their apartment to be warmer than normal! I spent so much money
