I asked the HVAC technician not to smoke in our basement.

He told the HVAC technician that I was very upset with his attitude and more importantly with his attitude toward the cigarettes

When I called the HVAC company, all I wanted was to have someone come out and inspect my furnace plus claimant so it would be ready for winter. Apparently that was a lot asked that moment. They said this grumbling man to my house, who made it very clear he did not want to work on a furnace. I noticed he smelled of cigarette smoke, so I asked the HVAC technician not to smoke while in my basement. He told me that if I wanted my furnace cleaned and inspected, I would have to put up with a little bit of cigarette smoke. He had already had a rough week, and even worse morning, and he was not about to put up with me worrying about one cigarette. He grabbed his tools and marched down the cellar steps. My husband came downstairs and I was still dumbfounded. He asked what was going on? I told him how the HVAC technician was behaving, and his comments when I asked him not to smoke the basement. My husband chuckled and headed down the stairs. He told the HVAC technician that I was very upset with his attitude and more importantly with his attitude toward the cigarettes. Explained how I was allergic to cigarette smoke, and he didn’t mind if the HVAC tech came up and went outside if he needed a cigarette. When my husband came upstairs, he said the poor man was almost in tears. His wife had walked out on him in the middle of the night, and the fight started about him smoking too much.
