Every time the air conditioning unit turned on, I was getting an odd odor coming from the air vents.
I couldn’t quite place with the older was, but it did not smell good. When my husband came home from work, I asked if he could smell the odor coming from the air vents? The second the air conditioning turned on and the air started blowing through the air vents, my husband looked at me. He asked if I had spilled anything down the kitchen air vent when I was cooking? I couldn’t remember anything going down the air vents, but I was sure something could’ve. He said it smelled like rotting meat. I was instantly grossed out when he said this. All I could picture was rotting meat covered with maggotsin my air vents and ductwork. My stomach turned and was all I could do to make it to the bathroom before vomiting. My husband called the HVAC company and explain what was going on and told them we needed to have our ductwork and air ducts cleaned and sanitized. The HVAC company promise that someone sent out the following morning. In the meantime, I didn’t want to sit in the house knowing that there were maggots in our ductwork. I asked my husband to take me to a hotel for the night, so I didn’t have to worry about the maggots and flies crawling on me while I was sleeping. When I got home the next day, the HVAC tech was there at 7 AM, and by 10 AM, I was cleaning and sanitizing every surface in my home.
