Having dealt with a lot of heating and cooling systems in my career as a heating contractor, I have come to identify the best unit for my house.
My sister who had just moved into the same state came to me with a question I had received most of my career, “which is the best electric heating system for my house?”.
There is really no right answer to this question as every property is different and so are the needs of each property owner. My sister’s indoor comfort needs included even temperatures, and an efficient central heater while at the same time, maintaining the energy bills. I visited her house just to assess the space to determine which whole-home heating system would suit my sister. Upon hearing of radiant floor heating, my sister immediately requested to have it as her main unit. One reason was that it did not need any furnace/heater tune-up or furnace/heater repair during the entire time it served her. The thought of not having to deal with heating technicians made her so happy. When she heard about the electric heat pump and all its advantages as well as the fact that it was affordable and would serve her through all the seasons, she was completely sold on it. Basing the decision on her view of indoor comfort, I shared a couple of energy-saving tips that would maintain the energy bills. A week after installing the unit, my sister confirmed that the heater worked efficiently and there was unevenness in the temperature, this ruled out the need for a zone control system. For the temperature control, the local service provider suggested that my sister get the digital thermostat.
