An a/c’s evaporator coil, also called the evaporator core, is generally going to be the space of the air conditioning method where the refrigerant absorbs heat. The dedicated evaporator coil is located inside or near the air handler where the blower fan is situated. Evaporator coils are made from copper, steel, or aluminum because these varieties of metals conduct heat easily, but most residential AC evaporators consist of tubes that have been uniformly bent into U shapes plus set into panels. As the a/c runs, the compressor pulls lots of cold, low pressure liquid refrigerant through the tubing in the evaporator coil. Before finally entering the evaporator coil, the refrigerant passes through the expansion valve. As the volume of refrigerant flows, the blower fan draws moderate room air over the chilly evaporator coil. The refrigerant absorbs heat from the passing air and, as it does so, it quickly warms up plus evaporates. When the water vapor in your moderate household air hits the associated evaporator coils, the water vapor condenses into liquid form plus drips straight down into the condensate pan which will drain outdoors. This is exactly how the evaporator coil reduces the humidity in your home. A dirty evaporator coil can experience a number of important issues including impared heat absorption, impaired cooling capacity, higher energy use, higher internal pressures plus temperatures, plus frost plus ice buildup. A layer of frost on your evaporator coil is never good, plus if your method is running with frost present on the coil, it can cause the evaporator to entirely fail.
