I’ve learned that the body makes twenty times more heat when you run, and it doesn’t matter what the weather is like. The purpose of sweat is to cool the body, but this also results in a serious loss of water plus electrolytes, such as sodium, calcium, potassium plus magnesium. Losing a lot of body weight through fluid puts you at a pretty substantial risk of dehydration… Fatigue, headaches, cramps plus an increased heart rate happen to be all indications of dehydration. I now make it a point to drink water before, during plus after a long run. Following essential hydration habits has helped to boost my performance. Temperature, the amount I sweat, speed plus distance I run all factor into the amount of water I find myself drinking. I take the time to weigh myself before plus after a long run to identify how much fluid I’ve lost from my body.
